Watercolor Art

Watercolor is an incredibly freeing medium for me. While I normally prefer the control and finesse of art markers, every once in a while I crave a paintbrush and an empty sheet of paper.

Truth be told, however, I cheated with the above right picture. This is a mixed medium piece. I started by sketching and laying a foundation with watercolors, and then brought out the details and enhanced the hues using art markers and pen.

The other works in this set were created strictly with watercolor, pencil, masking fluid and gum arabic (for the scales on the fish). The ease and quick nature of these paintings made them a joy to create.
